Important things to consider before buying a coffee grinder for cold brew.

Types of a coffee grinder –
- Manual grinder –
Manual grinders give the feel of vintage grinders. The grinder has burrs in spite of blades. This makes it more superior but the thing is in place of the switch you have to use a hand crank to run the grinder.
- Blade Grinder
If you are a begginer, its a good choice to buy a blade grinder. Blade grinder has a blade like propeller of an aeroplane.
The blade of this grinder hits the coffee beans randomly and the grind is not that uniform. The uneven grind may differ the taste of the coffee.
2. Burr Grinder
Burr grinder has two plates for crushing the coffee beans.
One part stands stable and the other part is connected to a motor that rotates to chush the beans at a set grind size.
This grinder gives a uniform grind of the beans. Mainly, there two types of plates used in burr grinder i.e.
Steel plates – Affordable but not Durable
Ceramic plates – Durable but not Affordable
3. Automatic Grinder
Automatic Grinder are easy to use, you just have plug it in set the grind size and press the button to grind it automatically. It saves your time and give a uniform grind.
It comes in blade as well as burr grind. Its upto you to select which type of grinder you want.
Cold Brew Grind Size –
There are several types of Grind sizes for different types of brewing. Some of them are as follows – Extra coarse, Coarse, Medium coarse, Medium, Medium fine, Fine and Extra fine.
These sizes depends on which coffee you want to brew?
Dosing option –
The filling of the ground coffee into the Porta filter is known as Dosing of coffee.
The grinder grinds the coffee beans and releases the ground coffee to the filter basket. From the filter basket you can fill the porta filter by repeating the crank movement.
Hopper size –
Hopper is the basket on top of the grinder in which we fill the coffee beans for grinding. The size matter as per the requirement of ground coffee to be used.
The hopper size should be taken into consideration according to your consumption.
Speed of grinding –
The grinding speed differs from Grinder to Grinder. The Burr Grinder has plates and has less chances to get blocked while running the grinder as compared to the Blade Grinder.
The speed of the grinder should be less than 500 RPM. lower the speed lesser the heating of the grinder.
Price Point –
According to me, when we check for the best prices available for a coffee grinder, it has a wide range of $50 – $2000.
If You are Looking for the Best Coffee Grinders for Cold Brew, I would suggest you choose a Burr Grinder.
I know its not that cheaper but cheaper grinders like Blade grinder will pulp the coffee beans and won’t be able to grind a uniform ground size.
Voltage –
Coffee Grinders need usually 220 Watt of voltage for running smoothly and keeping it Durable.
Cleaning –

The cleaning aspect of a coffee grinder is very important. As we use the grinder, the grinder gets heated. When the ground coffee gets in contact with heat and oxygen the aroma and the taste of the coffee gets degraded.
The residue of the ground coffee gets settled inside the grinder. Due to that, you will not get the fresh coffee while you are making a fresh Cup of coffee.
We have to take into consideration maintaining the hygiene of the grinder. Hence, the cleaning is the utmost important factor to be checked while buying a Coffee grinder that the cleaning of the grinder should be easy.
